Welcome to the LemProject!
Well folks, it’s been tough, but I think it’s finally ready…
Today, I present to you:
- Lemmings DS v3, an open-source port of the Lemmings game engine for the Nintendo DS, written in C++. (Based off the Amiga version.)

- Lemmings DS Builder v3, an open-source Lemmings DS level editor for Windows, written using the Allegro library.

- Lemmings DS Custom Level Utility, an open-source utility for attaching levels to a Lemmings DS Rom so they can be played on hardware.
These, and their associated source code, can all be found in the LemProject Downloads section in the panel to the right.
I’m afraid I can’t offer you all of the original Lemmings levels yet (they’re not even slightly compatible), but you’ve got everything you need to start making your own levels. I’ve begun writing some documentation in the LemProject Documentation. Head to the MrDictionary.net forum to share your created levels with other Lemmings players, and to discuss additions and revisions to the code!
A million thanks to the über folks who tested Lemmings DS during its initial creation… including Mike Dailly, sgstair, WinterMute, dovoto, natrium42, Wibble, Stuart Campbell and everybody else who loves Lemmings!

This is an amazing project and it’s so cool playing lemmings with the stylus! ^^
Wow fantastic release for the DS Homebrew community
Excellent job, Lemmings ports very well to the DS.
Doesn’t work on the DS-Xtreme, which is at the moment the most popular slot-1 solution. But, good news everyone, if you write about your project at the official “I’m a homebrew developer and I need a DS-Xtreme so I can make my stuff work on it” forum thread at http://forums.ds-xtreme.com/showthread.php?t=150, you will get a free DS-Xtreme. Do it now!
I’ll give that a shot, UL-Tomten.
I don’t know if it’ll work, though…
Great idea, glad to see this. Unfortunatly the collision detection seems way off, very hard to click on a lemming. I am using supercard microsd and dslite. But anyway, keep up the good work and thanks.
hi, I just wanted to let you know that I have a win95 version of lemmings that had many levels in separated files.
Maybe it could be quite easy for you to incorporate them to the game with little convertion providing a large amount of levels without without having to design them all
Uh oh… My girlfriend is going to hog my DS from now on, do you realize what you’ve done?
Thanks!
hi,
LUV IT! keep up the excellent work! i am so happy right now, been looking forward to something like this since i got my ds.
now someone needs to recreate all the original levels and i would be in heaven.
one little eek:
i am using a scsd and the game hangs very often on the level select screen or after a level…
hey,
awesome job! looks really nice and i’m very excited for this (loved the amiga version!).
just a few questions (maybe someone can help me, any help is appreciated):
i’m using a sc lite.
i can only play 2 levels so far, all the others say “Error: Canonisation Failed”. Am I doing something wrong there?
And the game has no sound? Well I guess you just didnt implement it yet
Anyway it’s a really nice project and I can’t wait for upcoming versions with improvements. Keep up the good work
You are cool, this game is cool, and you’re making the world a better place. Kudos
Thank you SO much for this port. Back in the “old days”, I loved those lemmings, and being able to play them on the DS now is a great christmas present
@bert
You just have to enable sound in the main menu, then you can enjoy the old tunes just fine
Thank you so much for your hard work.
You bastard, you never asked me to test it D=
This is an AMAZING bit of homebrew! So well implemented, not only have you done a great porting job but you’ve added some great control options. Can’t wait for some good level packs to be created!
Best homebrew game I’ve seen for DS so far. I had a big stupid grin on my face once I turned the music on & re-heard those classic tunes from the original. Top quality port & I’m sure we’ll sure some serious amount of levels being made for this once word gets around. I hope you continue to work on/add to/improve this & very best of luck to you!
